Have you been waiting all these years to play Bop-It, but reimagined as a video game featuring the coolest skateboarding vampire? Wait no longer!

The Story

Vamp had a genius idea: he could suck blood from beautiful babes so much faster if he had some sweet wheels. So he's hopped on his great grandpappy's enchanted skateboard, and taken to the streets in the cover of night. But with great power comes great responsibility, and great danger! The faster he skateboards, the faster various obstacles speed towards him. Will he be able to react and use his vampiric powers fast enough to stay safe and get to those babes?

How to Play

Press the button displayed to use your vampire powers and deal with the oncoming obstacles. You can listen to the audio prompts to know which action to take.

When you encounter a babe, mash the displayed button to suck blood and regain health.

Pay attention, because after a while the button prompts are hidden and you must remember how to use each power.

As the game speeds up, try to survive as long as possible to get a high score!

The Mac build isn't tested because I only have a PC, sorry!!

The Jam

Vamp Ramp was made over 10 days for the Bingo Jam, and met the following tropes for a bingo score of 24/25 :

  1. Game name is a pun, alliteration, wordplay, or includes the theme or jam name
  2. Provide extensive lore/backstory on the itch page
  3. Do not include a main menu
  4. Use Kevin McLeod music
  5. Use Kenney assets
  6. Make home-recorded sounds
  7. Use disjointed art asset styles
  8. Use the default Unity skybox somehow (fall through a pothole to see it!)
  9. Make a janky player character animation
  10. Font is Comic Sans
  11. Include a box/rock pushing puzzle
  12. Post WIP images/gifs in the Discord
  13. Hide an easter egg
  14. Give the exe/zip and the game different names
  15. Hint at a feature, but apologize in-game for running out of time
  16. Esc button quits the game
  17. No failure/death screen, game just restarts
  18. Player can fall out of the world, especially when they don't expect it
  19. Game crashes (ideally not in a way that prevents winning)
  20. Post the final game submission in the Discord
  21. Include a sweet gameplay gif on the itch page
  22. Upload an untested build for a system mentioning that you don't have access to it (i.e. Mac users post a PC build, and vice versa)
  23. Submit the game within 1 hour or less of the deadline
  24. Include a cat in the game
FREE SPACE - Submit to the jam

Note: Since the jam ended, I've removed the sneaky fall through world + crash since it didn't work in the web build and mostly just frustrated players. Bad design on my part!

Gnarly game with lots of fun! Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve played a Bop-it Like before!

The pokemon-esque nature of each obstacle saying its name (except for a couple). The variety and thematic actions are unique and cool! I especially liked the sunbeam effect.  Ooh and the unlimited power reference!

I think it took a bit for the difficulty to ramp up, and once it did it got tough to recover from some mistakes. But it’s a nice way of keeping playtime short for a jam. Nice game and fun jam! Hopefully we’ll be able to join the next :)

Ahh thanks so much for the comments, I'm glad you enjoyed it!!

This is addictive and really challenging.  The swingin' music is perfect and I enjoyed your silly sound effects.  I did a little better with a gamepad than with the keyboard.  This is about the best I can do!

Haaaah thanks for trying my silly jam game!!

Oh wow, I thought I did really well, but I'm not even close! :P. Was I supposed to not have any more obstacles after I fell out of the game?

The little warning sign in the game comes before a sneaky pothole (so you have to BAT over it), and when missed the player falls through the ground like with a regular pothole, but then the game crashes because Bingo Jam. I realized on the last day that if a player hadn't fallen through a pothole before they wouldn't recognize the falling through the level bit as a pothole obstacle, and that the crash just kind of breaks the web build without crashing it haha

Haha! OK, no worries. I'm fully satisfied with my meager score of 480. It's a personal best 😉

Was hellbent on beating your score after it keeps telling me to suck it but I don't think its gonna happen :(

It's over 9000!

is 456 a world record?

World's first player to score 456 in Vamp Ramp, woo!

Hey!! It's an intentional crash for the jam requirement, you have to Bat over it like it's a pothole to keep going :P
The "unlimited power" is kind of just a meme since the health bar goes past full, just a little secret to discover ;)

i did 556. after the prompts went away it got hard :(

This is the best I can do, phew!
