Idle Island is Live!

I present to you the first major version of Idle Island! In the coming weeks I'll continue to add features such as more animations, events on the island, the ability to rename your villagers, and an .exe build for ease of use, but I wanted to share what is already a very playable and lovable game. Feel free to comment if you have any feedback or feature suggestions, and have a happy time on Idle Island :)

This is awesome! Very relaxing. Love the pixel art aesthetic and the small touches like the crab, snake, seagull and ants. Is it weird that I enjoyed looking out for those as much as playing the game? I'm sure you'll be adding more animations over time, but would love to see the fire animated soon. Also, great choice of background music.

Not sure if this is a bug, or I just haven't waited long enough, but I put Hurley to work on the broken docks and got no progress after an hour. Will check again tomorrow.

I really like the real-time aspect of this game, and that you have to be patient and come back over time to see the progress and make changes, but I would like a fast-forward option to see progress happen quicker (or is that completely against the idle management concept?). Also, a day/time indicator to know how much time has passed offline when I return to the game.

Overall though, great concept and I can't wait to see more.

(Edit. Okay, I see progress on the docks. Guess I need to learn more patience ;-)

Hey, thanks so much for playing and for your feedback! A fast-forward is definitely against the spirit of the game as far as I'm concerned, it would be like changing the time  in Animal Crossing :P
As for the day/time, it's tied to real life time! I guess I'll need to think of some way to make that more clear.
I'll definitely be working on more critters and scene animations (fire, trees, ocean waves) next, I'm also excited to see more of them haha

Well you definitely have me hooked... I just had to check in on the island this morning to see what happened overnight ;-)

Although, to be honest, I think I might be way too analytical for this type of game. Like, with the offline speed set to 0.5x, did half as much time pass on the island, or did they only get half as much done? And did they sleep too? I know, I have a problem ;-) Feel free to ignore my ramblings since I'm probably not your target audience :D

I did manage to get the shelter built, and set the right "mood" to add two extra people to the island, although I have no idea where they are. They're definitely not in the shelter... Maybe she's pregnant with twins... I hope I don't have to wait nine months in real time to meet them ;-)

Hah oh my setting the mood. 9 months real-time waiting is a bit too much haha! When they manage to have a baby one person will be holding it in their arms, seems like they didn't get it right when they tried. You have 3 villagers but you have the capacity for 5, meaning you have room to make 2 more.

0.5x speed cuts the time which passes in half, so if you leave the game for an hour, it's like 30min has passed on the island. I guess that's effectively the same as them only doing half as much work? And nah, they don't sleep :P

No sleep! No wonder they can't make a baby. They're too tired ;-)
